Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

I love it. In all honesty, it may be a little overhyped, but I still love it anyways. We shouldn’t let the fact that other people talk about it too much ruin it for us; an overrated show can still be a good one, hell, a great one even. Now, for those of you who are really annoyed with how much attention this show is getting, I’ll remind you that this story has barely begun to walk. As of now, it may not be worthy of all the hype, but I have read the entire manga, and I can guarantee you, it will be. This story really 1-ups itself consistently, and soon enough, as cool as season 1 was, it will pale in comparison to what’s ahead. So rest assured, it only gets better from here. So, as to why I enjoy this show so much, these are the things make it special to me: ARTWORK AND ANIMATION Sure, we all know how beautiful the anime is. AND IT SERIOUSLY IS. The whole thing is candy for the eyes, and there seems to be a never ending supply of frames you could p...

Castle in the sky

When the airship she is on is attacked, Sheeta tries to escape from her would-be captors but falls to her death through the clouds. Fortunately the enchanted and mysterious crystal she is wearing round her neck saves her and floats her to the ground where she is found by young Pazu, who is rushing to get back to his boss in the mine with food. Pazu takes her in and they become friends but quickly learn that the pirates after Sheeta have not given up their chase. Not only do the pair have to deal with the pirates but also the government, led by sinister agent Muska, have their own dark reasons for getting hold of Sheeta. Escaping Pazu's town together is only the start of their adventure together.Hard to believe that this film is twenty years old and yet looks as fresh and is as engaging as anything else you will see today. The sheer visual style and imagination is quite breath-taking and I could not quite believe that this was made by Miyazaki only 7 year...

ATTACK ON TITAN

Image
As someone who’s a sucker for great writing, and thought the show was overrated when it first came out, I can now vouch for Attack on Titan ’s status as one of the most well written, well structured works of fiction currently around. The show is a testament to the notion that anime can bring you a story that can stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the modern age’s greatest literary output. It’s one of those one-in-a-million TV adaptations, where-in you get into, get blown away by, read the source material without waiting for the next season, only to discover that the source material reaches heights the adaptation could only dream of. And then the adaptation catches up to it and delivers on every front, and them some. Which is why it frustrates long-time fans, when they hear people say they dropped the series after season 1. Attack on Titan was the first anime series since Dragon Ball Z to reach mainstream success overseas. And by mainstream, I mean “being mentioned in the...

YOUR NAME

Image
Your Name or Kimi No Nawa anime is a masterpiece by Makoto Shinkai. This is that beautiful thing that landed me in the world of anime and made me an otaku. In Your name everything was so good it would be hard for even haters to give hate about it. The best thing I loved about it were 1) BACKGROUND MUSIC 2) PLOT 3) ENDING 4) ANIMATION 5) QUOTES 6) DIRECTION "Your Name" connects you with it in a very beautiful way,it looks like everything is happening with someone very close to you.Every meeting scene of Mitsuha and Taki makes you cry with tears of joy. Background music is excellent in it.Plot is outstanding even if romantic movies do not fall in your genre then also you can watch it without getting bored (and yes crying is necessary part of the movie does not matter how emotionless you are).Ending makes you cry and will make you happy as well. Animation and direction is excellent as well. Now talking about the quotes,This is my favorite part. I lov...

Spirited Away

Image
Hayao Miyazaki’s and studio ghibli movies, are profound and complex, they are much more than meets the eye, hence is not possible to grasp the amazing wonders of them by watching them only once, and spirited away is not the exception. Although is not one of my top favourites, like Howl’s Castle, Nausica of the Valley of the Wind and Grave of the fireflies - the last one specially is my achilles heel, Spirited Away has that je ne sais quoi, that manages to captivate me into its wonderful world every single time. But to not extend this too long, I will dive right into it. I think Spirited Away is a metaphor on the obstacles we face and the feelings we encounter on our way to adulthood, whilst facing society and their expectations, and maintaining our morale throughout these obstacles. What allows me to think this is for instance, at the beginning of the movie Chihiro’s parents disappear to eat food, to then be turned into pigs after eating too much foods - this to me r...
